PTH (Parathyroid Hormone) is produced by the four small parathyroid glands in your neck and is the master regulator of blood calcium levels. It controls calcium release from bones, calcium absorption in the gut (via vitamin D activation), and calcium reabsorption in the kidneys. Abnormal PTH levels can indicate hyperparathyroidism (bone loss, kidney stones), hypoparathyroidism, vitamin D deficiency, or kidney disease. PTH is best interpreted alongside calcium and vitamin D levels.
