About This Panel

GLP-1 receptor agonists (semaglutide, tirzepatide, liraglutide) are transforming weight management and diabetes care, but they require regular lab monitoring. This panel covers every marker clinicians recommend tracking during GLP-1 therapy. The CMP evaluates liver and kidney function — critical because GLP-1 medications are processed by these organs and rare cases of drug-induced liver injury have been reported. ALT and GGT provide focused liver enzyme monitoring beyond what the CMP covers. The Renal Panel assesses kidney function, important for dose adjustments. TSH screens for thyroid changes, as GLP-1 medications carry a boxed warning for medullary thyroid carcinoma risk. Hemoglobin A1c tracks blood sugar improvements. Fasting Insulin measures insulin resistance reduction. The Lipid Panel monitors cardiovascular risk improvements. The CBC with Differential screens for the rare hematological side effects. This panel is recommended at baseline, 3 months, 6 months, and annually while on GLP-1 therapy.
